Galdarion Forest

"I must admit, I did not long stay in the forest of the dead. It was not due to the fear, nor the disturbing nature, nor the lack of hospitality. Rather, it was perhaps too inviting." - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and Things

The forest of the dead, the damned wood, the songless place, Galdarion forest has many names to those who live across the River Lyric. But to those who call Core Vandal home, they don't much care for judging the woods for more than what it is. After all, it's not the woods that are especially dangerous, just the woman who rules them.

Notably important about Galdarion Forest is that the same presence that gives the mist hidden trees their foreboding atmosphere has also fundamentally changed them. Eve's necrotic power has seeped into the woods and caused the trees to undergo their own living death. This makes them grow twice as strong as normal trees, and quickly turn bone white when harvested. These trees are sold to Trine for all manner of projects, but mainly in the building of incredibly sturdy seafaring vessels

While the necrotic energy of the forest is palpable, it does not affect the forest's livability. Water still flows, plant life still grows, animals still roam and make their homes. But the presence of death holds dominion over the forest all the same. It is not uncommon to find the undead roaming beneath its branches, and if one wishes to stay on the side of ambivalence of the Queen, the undead are to be left undisturbed.

The River Still flows through the Galdarion Forest and empties into Elfhome Lake. Its placid waters are the subject of many stories and legends, not the least of which is how submerging oneself in the river will show a person the manner of their death. Though the forest itself holds no danger for the living, River Still has a legacy for being quite hostile.
