G'Nosh Town

"I know of no better testament to the fluidity of morality and the triumph of the mortal soul. I also know of no worse smelling place in all of Core Vandal. You win some, you lose some." - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and Things

City Description

Population: ~100

Founded: 4390

Legend has it that the gnolls of G'Nosh Town were one the precipice of destroying nearby Crooked Post when a group of well-meaning wanderers entered their encampment, set off a massive explosion, and taught the gnolls about the dangers of violence. While it sounds like something out a story book, every gnoll of this now thriving town swears by a lifestyle of peace and pacifism, citing the Big Boom as an example of what happens when one gives into their primal instincts rather than higher thinking.

G'Nosh Town, named for its founder, has a long-standing tradition of keeping Core Vandal free of monstrous threats. Comprised entirely of gnolls, and a few minotaurs from the Duskmakers, they pride themselves on dispatching roving bands of dire wolves, fighting territorial owlbears, and going to war against rampaging spiders. Their mindset aligns with needing to be savage to deal with the savage, and protecting "weaker" peoples from natural threats is their outlet for savagery.

The gnolls of G'Nosh Town has a long standing hatred of the griffons of Roost, but that rivalry has resulted in a stalemate. Meanwhile, the knights of Queen's Meet will often come to G'Nosh Town in hopes of hiring them on to deal with a threat deemed to dangerous for others. It's that space in which the gnolls thrive.

The town itself is a system of rickety platforms, old rope bridges, and barely working lifts. It has grown to a grand scale of rope and planks intercrossing in a maddening display of poor-planning. But if it's stupid and it work, it's not stupid.

City Landmarks

Big Boom's Scar: an explosion that turned the very rock to glass, the Scar is the pride of G'Nosh Town. The gnolls revere it is as an example of why they are the way they are. It also makes for a great place to sleep off a night of drinking

The Ale Pit: the gnolls decided to forego a standard tavern, inn, or bar and instead dump shipments of alcohol into small craters dug into the rock. It's here they drink their fill, and sometimes bathe in their spoils

Hall of Heads: every time the gnolls dispatch a bestial threat, they mount its head among their caverns. This gruesome display is less tasteful than what one might find in a keep, but perhaps more true to life

People of Note

G'Nosh: Male Gnoll, the old gnoll was injured long ago in a hunt but still runs the town with the virtue of peace and protection of others

Longhorn: Female Minotaur, outcast from her clan in Dusmaker, she joined the gnolls in hopes of someday convincing them to attack Ascendancy Peak
