Star & Scale #26
War's a Brewin'
09/07/2024
Flashback: Elowyn remembered back to a time when her friend in Ology, Fbhlthyl, commented on a planet which seemed to have a bright moon moving around it, a moon that was brighter than the planet itself. Fbhlthyl also talked about the Kindred Isle and how she lacked the pride of her homeland in the way her parents were proud, due to being born away from the island.
The group bid farewell to Delphine and Zell as they walked through the Geist Gate to Raesh. The portal remained open behind them.
Star and Scale returned to Lantern Light to get a good night's rest, but Zeb had a run in with Avalon, informing her they'd already found and destroyed the relic, a fact she did not take well
To help keep the heat off of May, Zeb shapeshifted into May to meet with Avalon in an attempt to resolve some of their issues. Avalon expressed remorse to Zeb, masquerading as May, about how she'd treated her, and eventually Zeb dropped the disguise, having a heart to heart with Avalon.
The group left Lantern Light shortly thereafter with the intent to return to Caim and get a ship to Othrund, so Ezekiel could take out his revenge.
Along the way, however, they encountered a herald who told them news that the King had been greviously wounded along the Royal Road, and was being rushed back to Caim. The news came with the presumption that Vad was planning an invasion due to the wound having been dealt by none other than the disgraced Drakewarden, Valdina, who was now in custody once again.
Arriving in Caim, they were approached by their Ionlann friend from the Tavern on High, 003, who asked them for their help in preventing a war between Vad and Highcroft by being Vadians who were willingly and publicly saving the King's life.
Eager to stop a war from happening, found their handler for the Travelers of Fortune, Mythranthar.
Through a conversation about King Cadogan Cauld's history, the group learned that the King had grown up in the mansion they'd investigated with the Ionlann last time they were in Caim, and the angelic being that had written a note in that mansion's basement was the King's actual father.
Due to the history of Cadogan finding the manacles which bound Hellfall in the bottom of Cradle Loch, Zeb found it amusing that Cadogan would technically have been the first relic hunter, considering his dying (adopted) father gave him the riddle that lead him there.
While Star and Scale investigated the mansion once more, they were approached by Ionlann 003 who suggested they get to Cradle Loch to find something to save the King's life, but the group recommended instead to go to the Ruins of Caern, where Mythranthar claimed an old friend of his, a wizard especially skilled in scrying, could help them locate Cadogan's father, the angel, to heal the king's wounds.
With the Ionlann blessing, the group set out to the Ruins of Caern, and upon arriving, encountered three individuals whose mere visage caused Eden to lose consciousness due to their imperceptibility and forced discomfort.
The three claimed they were there to take Zeb and Eden to the Final Sea.
