Star & Scale #33
A Bid for Peace
02/22/2025
Elowyn and Zeb flew through the skies above Caim, fighting against the invading Drakes and Devouts from Vad, which they knew secretly to be some invention of Nefaria's through the Constulate's abilities
The forces of Caim won the day, and after the battle Eden was given access to King Cadogan's chambers. She has to earn the trust of the High Prince by explaining the idea for the cure came from Cadogan's father, the angel Ryder.
She applied the blood from the creature Seed and while the King's arm withered necrotically, he awoke from a place he described as a prison full of creation magics and life.
Outside in Banner Plaza, the people of Caim gathered and demanded answers as to why a full size drake and its rider, along with his Vadian sister, were fighting against their own kind in Caim.
Mythranthar, the fortune broker, spoke up for the siblings and their group, Star and Scale, and encouraged the people of Caim to see this moment as an important development in the relations between Vad and Highcroft.
003, General Tracia Volinn, the Wing Guard who was present for the previous assassination attempt on the king, and the pegasus riders who flew with Elowyn during the battle all stood up and vouched for the group as well.
With so many important voices lauding the importance of Vadian contributions to the security of Caim, the people slowly came around to congratulating and honoring Zeb and Eden.
The King of Highcroft shook their hands in front of the entire population gathered in Banner Plaza and explained Zeb and Eden were leaders of Vad and spoke with authority, despite that not being true. He also explained with Zeb that Nefaria was behind not only this plot, but many others.
After the ceremony, the King spoke with Star and Scale and told them he knew he just lied, but he was tired of the fighting and wanted peace between their nations. His hope was the defeat of Nefaria would show the people of Highcroft that Vad and Caim were working together for the betterment of all.
Afterwards, the group was able to follow a piece of the Consulate's ooze back to the Rampart where Omnia was waiting for Star and Scale to talk to them.
Omnia finally laid all her plans out on the table, saying she'd coordinated every confrontation between Nefaria and Star and Scale in order to give the two Vadian siblings a victory to lead to this moment when Caim would come to trust them.
She also mentioned she had checked in with Jorgon, the kobold groundskeeper at Eden's monastary and Zeb's mentor, to ensure the two were the types of people others could love and follow.
Omnia claimed she still had plenty to do, but the final confrontation between the groups would seal the deal, but Nefaria could not pull punches or no one would trust the outcome.
With that Omnia said she was going to focus on trying to unite Lyr'Lowain next in an effort to get the world ready for the next Constellation War. A fight that could only be avoided if the gods were all dead.
Nefaria left, and Star and Scale considered what to do next.
