Star & Scale #20
Show Me the Gold
10/21/2023
Star and Scale made their way to Sophivitas in order to meet with Daedalin's cousin to earn enough money to get a teleport to Caim with their treasonous Ionlann and Wing Guard prisoners.
Before making it into the city, a lawman by the name of Markus approached claiming he had a warrant for Zeb issued by the Drakewardens of Vad, specially a warden named Petre. Zeb had never heard of this Petre, and informed Markus he was already making ammends for his slight against the Drakewardens by fulfilling his quest in Highcroft.
Markus decided to help Zeb with his quest in order to get him to return to Vad to face these new consequences issued to Zeb
Gift had another episode where the vacant cavity in his chest opened, as if reacting to something, and he overheard a conversation from his past between two people. One of whom questioned equipping Gift with such a powerful "tool."
The episode soon ended, but Gift had reverted to losing much of his vocabulary and agency, as when the group first found him
The group handed over their weapons at the gates of Sophivitas, a rite involving taking a bit of their blood to keep their weapons safe and specifically tied to them. The weapons were placed in a pocket dimension, and the group did see a curious sight of someone removing weapons within that dimension, near the teleportation circle of Sophivitas
Star and Scale went to the manor of Farewright, the cousin of Daedalin, an Owlin woman of some importance in the city. Her bodyguard, a woman named Hannah, checked the group in by saying, "The cloud are looking mighty heavy..." to which the group did not have a response
With everything seemingly in order, the group spoke with Farewright who offered them a job
The Grand Library of Emeral in the city had a document of weapon caches hidden in Sophivitas that Farewright didn't want falling into the wrong hands. She asked the group to steal it before someone else did.
The meeting was interrupted by news of a god being spotted in the city. Farewright asked Star and Scale, along with Hannah, so investigate while she spoke to Daedalin
The group arrived at the Sharptongue tavern to find a large, golden haired man singing to a crowd of entranced people.
Markus followed a suspicious looking Tiefling woman to the Steps of Persuasion, where she made contact with either the First Step, a Yuan-Ti orator, or a wealthy looking woman, who Farewright later identified as Clarity Dusk.
At the tavern, Eden mentioned the name Tambor to the golden haired man, which brought him out of his reverie
The man seemed confused as to what was happening to him, but soon realized, as if having an epiphany, that he was a god. He claimed he was Melil, the multiverse god of music, and that he had literally just come into his power.
The group got Melil out of the tavern as a white-haired woman in wolf furs approached, and took him back to Farewright's estate.
Once there, they heard from Melil that he hadn't had his divine power since the Constellation War, and if he had started to get his godliness back, that power restored, it could be happening elsewhere as well
When he asked Gift where his home was, Gift showed Melil a star map, and pointed to where he'd come from. Melil was concerned, and warned the group that Gift was dangerous.
Melil left to seemingly find Tambor, whom he claimed to love, and the group was left with his warning about Gift and the reemergence of the gods
With that done, Star and Scale went to scope out the Library of Emeral. They found multiple ways to break in that night and had just finished casing the place when Eden was approached by Emeral the Third, the current owner of the library.
Emeral asked Eden upstairs, and when she agreed, he wined and dined her, and asked her for a second date the following night.
Eden managed to find out that Emeral's chambers were in the topmost tower, and at night, the entre library was patrolled by Modrons.
Eden left the library, and the group made ready for their heist.
