Gaping Maw of Sound #3

The group dressed up the baby griffon as they entered the Halfway There Inn to the raucous sounds of fights of chicken, music, and drinking

• Bazil, a wealthy Tiefling who immediately befriended Kaos, bought the group a round of drinks

• Neya and Bazil participated in a game of chicken and ended up dethroning a halfling and half-orc who had been running the common room

• Obie has to ward off over-aggressive parents who want to see her baby, who is actually the griffon

Having had to check their weapons at the door, Kaos wanted his back so he could perform, and Justis snuck into the check room to retrieve it

• When she didn't return, Neya went in after her and found her magically entranced by a sword with thorny vines and eyes. She helped Justis out of her trance and snuck the sword out, stashing it in the wood behind the Inn.

• While hiding the sword, Neya sees the skies go red with black clouds, and hears a fell voice on the wind. It ends as quickly as it began, but she felt comforted by it, secure in whatever message it was trying to deliver.

Meanwhile, Mr Smith met with another servant of a man named Vardamir, and exchanged stories of their masters, and perhaps a more-than-friendly interest from the other servant

Kaos, with his instrument in hand, joins the minstrel on stage and they begin a rendition of Eternal Pain is My Only Pleasure, which enthralls the crowed with the assistance of Kit's encouragement.

• Kit and the half-orc from the chicken fight make friends after she hit him with a dart to create a distraction for Justis

Neya sneaks back outside with Mr. Smith to mess with the sword but are confronted by a woman named Middalah Devir, an apparent disciple of Thrax who recognized an ally when she saw one. She explains that something big has been set in motion and that they should both be receptive to the messages they may get from both Thrax, and possibly the Raven Queen.

The next morning, Kaos antagonizes Vardamir, a largely armored norse-looking man who wants nothing to do with him

• To help smooth things over, Mr. Smith and Vardamir's servant exchange items, Mr. Smith gaining an obsidian whetstone

The groups heads off with some new chickens in tow to feed the griffon as they enter the Phantom Plains.
