The Belligerents #31 & #32
Behold, Arakis Arisen
01/22/2025
The Belligerents considered their next move while wandering Heron's Harbor, and decided to start their campaign to get Arakis chosen as King of the Kindred Isles right there and then
They hired a fox kindred child who was barking to passerbys about a performance from someone named Shaka. They paid her a lot of money to hype up Arakis, and ended up drawing a crowd
The group took the angle that Arakis had risen after being publicly executed by Traxxus, which inspired many people in Heron's Harbor, and especially drew detractors of the bear kindred.
Arakis played into the mystical savior role, and was able to handle the public speaking side well.
After finishing with the spectacle of parading Arakis around the city, the group decided to head out to Wilder on their way to Torn's Rest, where Phira knew the tower was awaiting Lily and Dahlia.
Along the road, the group encountered the Raven Queen, who had come to deliver a few messages.
The deal made with Wizzler pertaining to Lily and Dahlia's right to the tower had been disolved with Wizzler's recent death. To that end, the Raven Queen was certain the current master of the tower, Jezria, would kill the girls as soon as actually attempt to asses their right to the tower, and just keep the tower for herself.
The Raven Queen also brought Phira and the group to a small village in the Sachak Woods whose denizens were seemingly posessed by some sort of entity.
She stated that she would not be visiting the group again, and that many divine powers of Vault would be leaving or hiding away; the exception being Thrax, who would flaunt his power in the face of the Divinaxiom being reactivated.
Speaking of the devil, Thrax appeared during the conversation and told the Raven Queen, his mother, that he required her assistance for a task, and took her with him through a portal to elsewhere.
The Belligerents investigated the area and realized the possessed kindred of the village could be healed. They set about removing a smoky entity from each of them and saw that the smoke removed was moving towards a point off in the woods.
Gork dug up a spot in the middle of the village where the rot, which had spread throughout the Kindred Isles again since the disappearance of King Doxx the Dire, was strongest. There was nothing within the hole Gork dug up, but it seemed something had been buried there at some point, as the group found remnants of an ancient purple cloth.
The group followd the smoke, leaving behind a Harengon named Bylo to help the rest of his village as they awakened from their possession.
The Belligerents came upon a clearing where the smoke was heading and found a creature standing in front of a pool of water with a crescent moon statue half-buried within it.
The creature was a horned, skeletal monstrosity with ancient purple cloth draped over its body, and a missing hand.
