Summary of the book: "Magical Curses and Cursed Magic" by Porkins Mcduggal
Porkins McDuggal is an Orc who used his hearty fortitude to experience as many magical curses as possible. His hope was to inform the public on their effects and their cures.
He tells many stories of various curses. Some of the more notable are:
Love Curse: Porkins spent three weeks in love with a rock, and didn't want to end it, but his sister, Bacon McDuggal, found you could end the curse through filling one's heart with hate, at which point she showed Porkins pictures of people throwing fresh-made food into the ocean.
Hunger Curse: An especially dangerous curse due to always being hungry regardless of how much you've eaten, it's very possible to eat yourself to death. Luckily for Porkins, he has a massive reservoir for food. Porkins enjoyed this curse as it removed a barrier to his favorite pastime, but did eventually realize the curse was cured by fasting for three days.
Five Step Heart Curse: A curse gone wrong, this one was meant to make children stay still by having them fall asleep if they take more than four steps. It ended up killing some people instead of putting them to sleep. Porkins found that the way to break this curse is to take four steps and then jump. It confuses the curse, causing it to end.
Concerning the curse of the weapons specifically, there isn't a direct reference to the current dilemma but Porkins does make note of hearing about a curse in the Dwarven realms of Dagmar long ago where people turned to crystal after mumbling incoherently for weeks. Porkins classified it as a disease but admitted he never looked into it closely.
