The Legend of Ir'Palin
One of the few mortals to have a lasting impact on the Constellation War battlefield, Ir'Palin etched his name in history by backstabbing Loviatar and freeing hundreds of followers of Constable Gribbs.
The story goes thus:
A settlement near the lake of those who wishes justice done, even in small ways. Wished they to bring thoughts to others of fairness in all things. Upset made the lady of lashes, the willing whip. Cruel her malice, disdain her mind. A fight seeking after a fight winning. Brought low did she as Bane's hand a Creation.
The people of the lake loved by Gribbs, a making of a target. Chief among them Ir'Palin, reformed liar and thief. Came Loviatar. One path saw Ir'Palin. Betrayal. Twice. First of his people. Named names. Pointed directions. Guided the whip. Flayed the skin. Laughed with his maiden of pain.
Some died. High cost. Most lived. Scales of judgment rest on history. Ir'Palin within council. Pulled blade and placed in back of Loviatar. Infused in that time with power. Maybe Gribbs. Loviatar wounds, make to leave the lake, vowing pain. Ir'Palin mocks. Promises one more blade in back. Loviatar does not return. Called away to more pressing gods. Safe is made group by the lake.
Ir'Palin mourns those he killed. Exiles. Celebrated by others, but not him. Promises to return when Loviatar returns to torture. Promises to be nearby. Promises not another whip.
It is this passage, translated from ancient forms of elven that tell us that Ir'Palin was not only one of the few mortals recorded to strike a blow against a god of the multiverse, but did so successfully, driving the god Loviatar away, seemingly not to return. Though there is no other record of this town near the lake, whose only descriptor is their love of justice in small things, it is believed they were early followers of Constable Gribbs, a goddess now known as one who helps influence the fringes of society to ensure those who deserve punishment get what they deserve.
Unfortunately, Constable Gribbs is yet another god unaccounted for since the Constellation War, and so too is her seeming champion, Ir'Palin. Though his final resting place may well be near the lake referred to in the account.
As for the weapon that struck Loviatar, there have been many enchanted weapons said to be able to influence divine beings. One can only speculate where such a weapon came from.
