Traegavul Moors
"Listen, I've been drinking. Thinking, I mean. Drinking and thinking. You know who I hate? Do you know him? What's his name? Tell me through the book. Yeah, if you're reading this tell me his name. I hate him though. I've always hated...those little sand shrimp skewered sand shrump in Jawhara. That's not the guy I hate but those things taste as though they passed through the back end of Orcus and took the worst out with them. I'm serious, I hate that guy. What was his name? You know him?" - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and Things
Of the many spirits, wines, ales, and alcohols sold in Vault, there is nothing quite like Traegavul malts. Distilled at Traegavul Moors in northeast Highcroft, the secret process has been passed down through generations of families of human, dwarves, and harengon who reside there. In 2275, those families realized there were enough generations running around to found their own town.
That town of Traegavul Moors is located in the lowlands of Highcroft where the water has unique qualities that make a malt like no other. But malt isn't the only thing the town produces. It's come to be known as a destination for the many myths, legends, and fairy tales told about the moors outside of town. All manner of yarns from monsters that stalk the creek beds to a certain day of the year where there are two suns in the sky. Traegavul Moors has become a bard's paradise and a place for swapping stories, both real and less so, with like-minded companions over a cup or three.
Additionally, Traegavul Moors (named for the Traegavul founding family, don't you know) is home to the Lowland Games, where the burly, the brawny, the stout and the husky gather to compete in competitions of strength, quickness, balance, accuracy, and endurance. Occurring over the course of two weeks four times a year, it is a celebration unlike any other in Highcroft. The town also uses that time to celebrate its own children as they grow into adulthood, holding a special ceremony on the last night where the spirits of ancestors who roamed the moors during the time before the Constellation War are consulted on what need be done for a child to become an adult. It is a sacred rite which coincides with the successful individual learning the Traegavul secrets.
The town itself isn't large due to only the families who founded the town are allowed to stay. While the families grow, the tight-knit community between them has nearly no blemishes. The exception being the Glenalach family who left the town decades back, but that's a story for the telling in one of the many taverns in Traegavul Moors.
