The Belligerents #29
Contesting the Throne
09/25/2024
Vainya, now fully changed into a vampire, roamed the ship, encouraging the crew and exemplifying her nowfound strength and purpose
Though Raithe was hesitant to accept Vainya's newfound demeanor, she imparted to him that she was feeling more herself than she ever had in her life. She had a purpose, and it was so ensure no one in their group ever again felt the sting of death and defeat.
To this end, Vainya made a contracted the Damiya by calling Bao into service, giving him a token of her mother's a hair pin. She claimed her mother was a member of the Golden Guard, which explained her own dedication to joining the group which she seemed to loathe in many ways.
Flapjack was visited by a visage of some creature who called Flapjack by a strange name, and told Flapjack it was time for him to come to the Final Sea in order to take part in the battle he was destined to.
Flapjack refused to go with the visage, which seemed to only have enough power to make the request, and the illusionary projection faded.
As the Gravy Trained approached the Kindred Isle, the group ran into a boat leaving the island filled with Kindred looking to escape the rot and find a better life in Core Vandal. They were being lead by a Harengon named Pergie who told the Belligerents that the isle is fractured and infighting is prevelant as the entire island is succumbing to the rot.
Moving on, the group soon encountered a thick mist which made it difficult to navigate. A massive heron appeared and guided the ship into Heron's Harbor. The bird then settled onto a perch to look out for other ships lost in the mist.
Upon disembarking, the group met Doba, an elderly tortle dockmaster, and she showed them kindness in explaining the way things worked around Heron's Harbor.
Soon, the group was confronted by a bear kindred named Traxxus who was aggressive and hate-filled for any Newcomers visiting the isle. When Arakis learned Traxxus was one of the front-runners for taking the empty throne of the Kindred, he stepped up to claim his own intention of pursuing the throne.
Traxxus immediately struck a mortal blow to Arakis, felling him instantly.
