Gaping Maw of Sound #19
Drums and the Divine
01/04/2023
The Gaping Maw of Sound appeared in Caim and began their search for the Sword of Tyr, a weapon capable of felling a god, which they planned to use to destroy Thrax
They started at a tavern called Caim's Concoctions, where they were approached by an Ionlann, 721, for speaking a bit too loudly about Bane, the multiverse god of hatred, and the entity they were ostensibly helping by freeing his minion, Neverending
721 informed them that kind of talk in a city that worships Tyr would get them throw in prison, and also directed them to the Church of Tyr and the Gods of the Multiverse for any questions they had
The group made their way there but met a man down on his luck outside named Sydni, who claimed to be an amazing drummer, but his band had been murdered and his drums stolen
The group took a liking to him and told him he could travel with them and they'd help him get his drums back once they were finished looking for the sword
At the Church, a woman outside was yelling at passerbys and the Church itself about the fires of purification
Upon speaking with her, Obie discovered the woman was a disciple of the Church of the Sacred Flame, a new faith that had sprung up in Trine, which focused on fire as a means of burning away everything but love and compassion
Obie said she'd attend a meeting of the faith that night
The group entered the Church and spoke to Bishop Waring, who showed them a mural in a remote wing of the church depicting the end of the Constellation War
Pouring through old books, they found that the myth of the Sword of Tyr may not be a sword at all, and whatever it was, may have been used in the final battle in which both Bane and Tyr fell
Neya sensed a divine presence beneath the Church, and after discovering Sydni was also an Aasimar without his wings, they decided to investigate further, heading into the basements below.
