Wild Bunch #28
Proving Loyalty
09/18/2024
Standing on the beach of the nameless island south of Topside, the Wild Bunch watched as Doxx the Dire, former King of the Kindred Isle, shook off the mental shackles tying him to the personage of Melvin, and came into his own again mentally if not physically
Doxx immediately set about greeting each of his Kindred brthren, Tricks, Winnifred, and Rusty, while he showed open disdain for Nickelgin, Alexander, Jemiah, and Equaline.
Doxx claimed he needed to return to the Kindred Isle, and along the way figure out how to reclaim his physical form. The group agreed to take him back to the isle, but Doxx demanded they first stop in Cypress in order for the "newcomers" of the group to "prove their loyalty."
Not understanding exactly what Doxx had in mind, the group discussed whether or not it was a good idea to side with Doxx, as he seemed generally dismissive at best and violent at worst towards anyone not considered Kindred.
The Wild Bunch decided to follow along and see where the path lead.
Doxx also demanded his crown from Rusty, who admitted he did not have it and had no idea where it was. Doxx was perturbed but dedicated the group to finding it before their return to the isle
Arriving in Cypress after a multi day journey about the Floating Pot, the group found Cypress Bay filled with wreckage that seemed more recent than the Battle of Broken Dawn.
The group docked and Doxx explained the people of Cypress had stolen an artifact from the Kindred Isle long ago, which he called the "Moon Stone," and claimed they'd put it in a museum. The group was tasked with proving their loyalty by stealing it and killing anyone who got in their way.
Upon entering the city, the Wild Bunch noticed a group of scholars and knights unloading many ships
The group started their search for the Moon Stone at a bakery called "Butter Bebe's Bakery," and talked with Butter Bebe herself about the state of Cypress
Apparently, a fleet of undead warships had come to finish what the Dawn Chasers had started but a massive, undead dragon had come and destroyed the undead fleet. The people of Cypress were generally confused about why this all happened, but everything seemed calm now.
They also learned the scholars and knights at the docks were the Veritan Order of Calypso, who had come to take over Zapoi Rum Factory after the factory owner had been killed by a group of Relic Hunters
The group figured an order dedicated to the hunting and discovery of artifacts was a good place to start for the Moon Stone, so they visited the rum factory, scouting it out, and found a large Sphinx atop the factory, overseeing the Vertian Order's moving in.
