Tough As Dirt #5

Better than the Rope

01/07/2023

  • Tough as Dirt, along with Cookeg and Yella, sailed across Barnacle Bay in search of Calvara Island

    • The Gateway Clipper came across a vessel named the Escape captained by Alamy North, who offered up the flag of barter and trade

      • The group stopped and received a cask of Mudda's Milk and a magical fish net created by a man Alamy claimed was a crafting legend, Trix Torrez

      • She also informed the group about a few going-ons in Trine, including the slaughter of a criminal group and a vampire infestation in the town of Venture Ridge

  • After bidding goodbye to Captain North, Brother Moor awoke the next morning to find Yella staring at him

    • Yella lamented the fact that Moor wasn't his son, Arnor, as Yella seemed to have regained his mind while out on the open ocean -- at Moor's insistence, Yella recalled a tale of his son pretending to fight pirates when he was a boy, when Yella first realized the boy was meant to sail

  • With some tips from Captain North, the group eventually found Calvara Island, and approached it stealthily, understanding news that it was infested with undead, and believing Galloway had come here to look into a cult known as the "Daughters of Eve."

  • They found many undead on the island, including skeletons who were obviously raised with more power than a normal run of the mill undead footsoldier

  • Tough as Dirt encountered a wrecked ship on which they discovered four dead crew members huddled around the main mast, two of whom wore rings with clasping hands etched into the metal

  • Elsewhere, they ran into the beast which had caused this wreck, an undead giant octopus, who attacked on sight

  • Defeating the beast, the surveyed the rest of the island and discovered a massive skeletal warrior slamming its warhammer against rocks nearby
