Gaping Maw of Sound #6

The Gaping Maw of Sound arrived in made their way to Tree Pass but along the way, Mr. Smith walked behind a treeline and an entirely different person emerged, calling herself the Grand Duchess Smissara of Jawhara

• Smissara proved to be surly, demanding, and the opposite of Mr. Smith in almost every way, but claimed it was her turn to take control, and the group accepted that their friend Mr. Smith was gone, replaced by this less enjoyable woman

Arriving in Tree Pass, the group was greeted by a lazy guard and found a welcome party awaiting them

• The party was for Dawn Chasers and someone with the Voice, which the group assumed was for them

A goblin by the name of Perusianopholousicus gave the group the grand tour, showing them the many parts of Tree Pass

• During the tour, Kaos and Kit snuck off to find the whereabouts of the town troublemaker, Damn Stupid Doug

  • They discovered Damn Stupid Doug was the guard at the front of the town, and a group of goblins chased him off, believing he drowned, though Kaos secretly told the troublemaker to come to the pub later that evening

The goblins presented the group with a barge to take them to Wayward and asked for the person with the Voice to speak their riddle so the goblins could find the relic weapon themselves

• Obylot lead the group in making up a song called "Ocean Calling Me Home" which the goblins took to mean they needed to march into Galdarion Forest to find the weapon, which they planned to do on the morrow

Deciding to head out the next day, the group went to the pub to celebrate with the goblins only to be caught in the middle of Damn Stupid Dug crashing tables into the water below the pub

• Though done in good fun, the scene soon turned deadly as goblins were pulled beneath the water, something tearing them apart

The group decided to leave the city quickly, but when they left the pub, a group of Dawn Chasers, lead by Executor Aver Gallant, had arrived with a muzzled individual in chains

• It became apparent the welcome party had been for them

Justis made a plea to join the Dawn Chasers as they went to Wayward but was told the Dawn Chasers did not accept liar

Just then, a group of piranha creatures with the bodies of humans molded sloppily together with a black ichor emerged from the waters and a battle ensued

The Gaping Maw of Sound made quick work of their enemies but the Dawn Chasers were fighting a losing battle until the group stepped in to help

• However, during the chaos, the muzzled undead creature the Dawn Chasers had brought with them escaped and jumped into the water
