Tough As Dirt #36

• Tough as Dirt watched as Vanissa rallied the vampires of Venture Ridge into the belief that the cloud should remain above them, and that death was not their way out. Instead, the town made ready to attack Crooked Post.

• The group followed Vanissa and several of her closest fighters to an abandoned church in town, where Vanissa attempted to retreieve the globe that controlled the cloud above them.

  • The group considered multiple approaches, but after a booming commands from Varsmak and a successful bid for diplomacy from Lucia, the group was able to confront and speak to Vanissa without bloodshed.

• While Tough as Dirt, and Lucia especially, was able to convince Vanissa that succumbing to bloodlust would create the very monsters the world thought them to be, an Aarakocran youth named Speaker descended from the rafters, attempting to destroy the cloud.

  • Ricco managed to tackle Speaker out of the way at the last moment, and Vanissa explained he was one of the townsfolk who decided not to leave and not change. He'd been harrassing the vampires of Venture Ridge ever since.

• Vanissa told the group to do with Speaker what they would, and rallied her people to leave town and travel to Queen's Meet in an effort to find work and willing participants to feed the town.

• Meanwhile, Tough as Dirt had to decide what to do with a Dream Tether message from Elowyn of Star and Scale, in which she explained Gift, the original owner of the Divinaxiom, was recently in Crooked Post, and had witnessed two dragonborn kill Kreene, the vampire lord stationed there. Apparently Gift was after the Divinaxiom.

• The group decided to set a trap for Gift in order to interrogate him about the device, and Speaker showed them the tools, materials, and resources they would need to setup the now vacant town for such a task.
