Kit and Obie tracked down Jackal and calmed him after his encounter with the firbolg forest guide

• Ellie the Griffon also helped bring Jackal back to a spot where Kit could hold his hand and bring him back to the group

The firbolg introduced herself as Zanda, and claimed she was a Galdarion Forest guide from Govvanath.

• She was leading the group of Dawn Chasers who had tracked down Jackal and kidnapped him, but the Gaping Maw of Sound hired her on to get them to Demon's Hollow, a place Zanda said no sane or non-evil person would ever want to go

The group continued their way through the forest and came upon an abandoned village once called Dullhem, a place Zanda often used as a safe place to rest

• The ruins of Dullhem, however, were not empty: a massive tree had taken root and was undulating with blood pustules, draining the blood from zombies being drawn to it

Realizing the danger of allowing the tree to continue to drain the blood of the undead for some nefarious end, the group killed off the zombies, giving no further energy to the tree
