Bogul's Bruisers Session #27
Stay Crooked
03/25/2023
Months after accidentally releasing a dread lord from the Shadowfell in Vault, Bogul's Bruisers found their way back together again at the Gossamer Gazette in Trine after Hannah heard a rumor about the Saffron Society running weapons associated with a place called "Darkon."
Hannah's assistant, Jimmy Timmy Two-Tone Tony Jabroni, set up a meeting between the Bruisers and a man named Dirty Dave Darling, a known collaborator with the Saffron Society
Arriving at the Jagged Dagger, a tavern of ill-repute, the group met with Dave and Hannah convinced him that she could make him famous if he told them about the rumor
They learned what was being run by the Society wasn't weapons but "remnants," literal pieces of a castle known as Avernus, that some big bad dude was trying to rebuild in Vault
Dave told the group that the former leader of the Society, Quincy Quinn, had been killed recently in the Bathhouse Massacre, and two new leaders had taken her place: Jihyo and Jim, referring to Diamond Jim and Jihyo Chiss, a notable and wealthy couple in high society
The group left the Jagged Dagger and went to the Undertow, the undercity of Trine where rope bridges and wooden plank walkways sway in the air above the ocean, still attached to the pillar that hold up the city proper
There they found Jihyo and Jim and negotiated there way into a deal where the group would accompany he next transport of these remnants to the Halfway There Inn, where the Society's contact, someone named Tax'athar, bought the remnants from the criminal organization
Jim expressed to Bogul in private that he was in way over his head and probably with some pretty evil people, and that he didn't want anything to do with the Shadowfell or dread lords. He asked Bogul and his bruisers to get him out of the mess, but not tell Jihyo
Jihyo was unconvinced the group had what it took, so she forced a game of "Table Touchie" where the Bruisers needed to stop Saffron Society thugs from touching the table in the middle of the room
Jezria took the game too far, killing multiple people and setting fire to the part of the Undertow in which the Society had set up shop
Unrepentent, Jezria was marked for assassination by Jihyo, but Jim promised to smooth things over, and encouraged the group to meet with the caravan leaving Trine in the morning with the remnants meant for delivery to the Halfway There Inn
The group left, attempting to sow discord among the Society as they went, and Jezria did some networking to bring more people to her church, the House of the Sacred Flame.
During the night, Jezria was visited by the Raven Queen, who gave her four feather, the same number of people she'd killed the day prior, and told Jezria to "Burn them all."
The next morning, the group set out of Trine with the caravan, determined to meet this Tax'athar and see where the dread lord was hiding.
