Dragon Watch

"One might be confused at first thinking it's the dragons who are watching. It's not. It's what the keep is watching for. A more appropriate name may have been 'Watching for Dragons,' but that probably doesn't sound good in Pegasus language." - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and Things

Near the end of the Firetide War, Philomena Leomin exerted the last of her power, as Hellfall careened down toward her, to draw energy from the land and destroy the elder dragon. The ritual went wrong during Hellfall's attack, resulting in the death of Philomena and the creation of the flying keep now known as Dragon Watch.

Once known as the fortress city of Daerdra, it was torn from Highcroft and most of the city fell to ruin, killing hundreds. Those who remained on the floating island eventually were brought succor when the wizard Aghast created an elemental attunement device to help control the now floating island. Thus Dragon Watch was born.

Built up over the years as a flying fortress, Dragon Watch patrols the eastern shores of Highcroft, ever vigilant for the threat of draconic invasion from Vad.

The keep is occupied by the greatest knights Highcroft has to offer: the Wing Guard. The Pegasi who came to aid Highcroft during the Firetide War have also taken up residence in the keep, using their natural magical ability to imbue Dragon Watch with not just protection but an air of serenity and beauty. The many floating towers and spires of the keep bob and glide in gentle, meandering circles. The Pegasi, often yearning for their home in the Myhtrasil Forest, make the best of their new post. Because they know at the first sight of scales in the sky, their duty bound to take wing and rider against invasion.

The sight of Dragon Watch is of great comfort to the people of Highcroft, but entry to the keep is reserved only for military personnel and vaulted individuals.
