The Dekad Draconum

When the world was created, ten dragons were its first denizens. These elder dragons remain incredibly powerful forces on Vault, whether dormant or active. Some are shrouded in mystery and others can be found with little trouble. They are studied, revered, and sometimes worshipped. Though they were created together, their purposes never aligned entirely and to this day those surviving act of their own accord.

In time genesis, eye unseeing, breath yet held, stewards of fate heralded by divine precedent manifested upon the world.

With eye open and breathing gasp, the first descendants petitioned for purpose. Spoke unto them, "As being, thou must be. Hinder not our work. Shepherd creation. Forestall the inevitable decline to damnation for which thou art destined."

With eye seeing and breath exhaled, the first descendants petitioned for reason. Spoke unto them, "Thou art calamitous in might, omniscient in knowledge, and ageless in arcana. Such power cries to the darkness for guiding light. So thou shalt be unto those who come after."

With eye closed and breath held, the first descendants petitioned for change. Spoke unto them, "No."

~~Dekad Draconum Scripture~~

GLAINWING

A gold dragon beloved of the Elves of Lyr'Lowain. After the Constallation War, Glainwing settled into a life of peace and solitude and made an effort to lead Elves across Vault to do the same. She was convinced to give up that life to make war upon Demon's Hollow, which lead to her death.

HELLFALL

A black dragon who lead the forces of Vad against Highcroft in the Firetide War. Known for a deep anger impossible to satiate, Hellfall was brought low by Cadogan Cauld to end the war. He is now a prize paraded in the Cavalcade Lament across Highcroft.

ROSEGLOOM

A green dragon obsessed with the Feywild. She made her home in the Heart Pool of Highcroft and helped bring about the crossing between planes there until Dragonfall. Rosegloom abandoned her home and became enamored with a creature of the Fey she believed would grant her endless bliss.

EMBERGORE

A red dragon who wished to take his place atop the world order as ruler early in mortal history. Embergore's disdain for lesser species lead to a vast undervaluing of their combat prowess. After claiming himself the ruler of modern day Core Vandal, he was put into a magical sleep and hidden away, never to awaken.

LITHENLIGHT

A silver dragon driven by divine purpose to ensure mortals were elevated and cared for. They devoted their life to the pursuit of enlightening the first species to come to Vault. Their pursuits ended when they were betrayed by those they'd devoted themselves to, pushing Lithenlight into a deep depression and isolation.

DAWNTORN

A bronze dragon who took a liking to Dwarves and assisted in the creation of the sprawling kingdom of Dagmar. Upon becoming something of a deity for the Dwarves, Dawntorn doubled down on his service to Dagmar but was lost to the Chatoyant Chasm during its discovery and subsequent caving-in.

ESPERWAKE

A white dragon who immediately abandoned the directive to help mortals and instead sought to destroy them, leaving the world for dragonkind. Thwarted by her kin, she created a citadel in Vad where she laments the state of the world and plots its destruction.

CLOUDTHINNER

A copper dragon whose love of magic was rivaled only by his love of the sea, Cloudthinner was a valiant warrior in the Constellation Wars for the sake of creation. His eventual death to an unknown combatant during the war brought despair to his kin but not nearly as much as when his body was brought back to undeath by Eve Galdarion.

WANDERWILL

A brass dragon who abandoned the Constellation War, considering it a waste of time, and began the gathering of ancient treasures in the deserts of the south. Now considered a sage of the southern countries, encountering Wanderwill in her ventures is a sign of luck and good fortune.

HARROWDANCE

A blue dragon trusted by her creators more than any of her kin, Harrowdance dutifully fulfilled her responsibilities to mortals, and when she considered the job done, joined forces with powerful entities and valiant mortals to safeguard Vault from existential threats incomprehensible by most.
