Endless Hall

"One might believe it's impossible to get lost in a single room. I am here to tell you it is not only possible, but also very scary." - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and Things

Six hundred and ninety years ago, the Eder Dragons escaped Highcroft, came to Vad, and the land was thrown into turmoil. This chaos lasted only as long as it took for the dragons to establish their reign, and they did so in the Endless Hall.

This massive mead hall was built for the communion between species using both powerful magics and the strength of the people of Vad. It is one of the great marvels of Vault due simply to its immense size. It's large enough to house all ten Elder Dragons comfortably while also hosting thousands upon thousands of people.

It is in the Endless Hall the Elder Dragons held council after coming to Vad to decide on how to split up the country (this coming after the disastrous events of Drakar Oga). Over the centuries, the Hall has been used not only as a neutral ground for the Elders to meet but is also an honored place where disputes are settled. The rules of the Endless Hall are simple

When you attend the Hall, you are equals.

When you attend the Hall, you are peaceful.

When you attend the Hall, you are respectful.

When you attend the Hall, you will speak and you will listen in turn.

This gargantuan structure has played peacemaker and war room, built and destroyed relationships, and catered to all from the the dredges of society to the lofty rulers of the world.

The proprietors of the Endless Hall are a family of Dragonborn known as the Fellowship. That family oversaw the construction of the Hall and have tended to its upkeep, brewed its drink, and cooked its food ever since. Generations of Fellowship work in the Hall and a community all their own has been established, exclusive to them and only them.

To that end, the Endless Hall is not an inn or a tavern. While the Fellowship resides there, the Hall is used only for the coming together of people and then their dispersal. While a gathering may take place over days and weeks, and often do, when business is finished, so to are those gathered there. The current Keeper of the Fellowship, Geneveve, is a respected sorcerer who has mastered spatial magics. Those who overstay their welcome often find themselves waking in the Carapace Badlands after a rought night of drinking.

Geneveve and the Fellowship are not strict, however. The Hall can be used for a family dispute over cattle or the bargaining between nations where entire armies attend the negotiations. Those who do attend are well cared for so they can focus on one thing: resolving their issues.

A single room filled with thousands of tables, tens of thousands of chairs, thick-paned windows overlooking the foothills of the Highlands, and more than enough room to fit the largest beasts in Vault in places of honor: the Endless Hall's beauty is dwarfed only by its importance to the history of Vad.
